Justice League: 12 Things We Learned From The 2011 Alternate Script

Way back before Warner Bros but their faith in Joss Whedon rescuing Justice League from poor early screening reactions and a vision they didn't quite believe in and even back before Zack Snyder kicked off the DCEU with Man Of Steel, there was another Justice League movie.

No, not the Justice League Mortal project from George Miller that was scuppered at the last minute by production bureaucracy, but another alternate version that was scripted in 2011 by Gangster Squad screenwriter Will Beall. It was formed even before the end of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy and though it was called "terrible" (by Bad Ass Digest) in 2013, there's now assessment out there.

Umberto Gonzalez at The Wrap has got his hands on the script, and his assessment makes for interesting reading. He says the film would have been big on fan service, spectacular set-pieces and classic comic book lore. And it was good enough at the time - in Warner Bros' eyes at least - to earn Beall a two-picture deal, with Variety reporting that Ben Affleck considered directing it well before he was then cast to play Batman for the DCEU.

So what do we know about this mysterious script? Hold on to your butts, it's a hell of a ride...
